Copyright and Privacy

In the United Kingdom, copyright protection is automatic when you create a piece of original work (further details here). An idea cannot be copyrighted. We strongly recommend that writers have at least a first draft of their screenplay or a written treatment before pitching their film for our filmmaking projects or discussing their script in the Script Development Workshops.

We request that participants in our scriptwriting workshops do not discuss other writers' story ideas outside of the workshop, without the express consent of the writer.

Action On The Side and Busy Kiwi Productions do not retain the rights to scripts that are pitched or discussed in our filmmaking projects or workshops. When a script is selected for a filmmaking project, the Writer must sign a written agreement to transfer the copyright to Busy Kiwi Productions for the film to be made. All cast and crew involved with an Action On The Side film project must sign a contract with Busy Kiwi Productions Ltd before filming begins. This is a standard industry practice, these are industry-standard contracts, and the signees will have at least 24 hours to read and review the contract before signing.

Contracts can be signed physically or digitally and will be shared with the signee. They will be kept by Busy Kiwi Productions Ltd for the duration of copyright.
