Sound Mixer

If there is only one person recording sound on the shoot, they are the Sound Recordist.

If there are two or more, then we have the Sound Mixer and a Boom Operator.

The Sound Mixer is the head of the Sound Department.

They set the microphones and will be in charge of monitoring the audio.

They need to understand microphones, digital audio recorders, ambience, and all things audio. It is their role to make sure that the audio is recorded clearly and to log what was recorded.
